Vision and Goal Statement for the next Decade

January 2003

·                    To capture the energy, the intensity, the joy, the simplicity and the growth of the church in Acts.  We want every activity in the church and every challenge we face to be infused with that sense of purpose.

·                    To multiply the number of disciples to reach a worshipping attendance of 300 and beyond by targeting unchurched families and those under age 45 (the largest segment of our community).

·                    To interact with other Christians and influence not only our neighborhood but every livable continent for Christ in increasing measures.  We want to invest over $85,000 in missions by 2013.

·                    To deepen the intensity and excellence of our praise experiences so that everyone leaves deeply moved at being with Jesus.  We will advertise our church primarily by word of mouth through people who are excited about God at our church.

·                    To grow new believers into a deeper community who share their lives together and carry each others’ burdens and joys.  We will need more intimate contacts through 12+ adult and service groups during the week.

·                    To grow a youth program (under 20) that attracts over 75 young people and grows them into fully devoted disciples of Christ who are wholeheartedly committed to serving Christ above all else.  We will also challenge any whom God leads to committing 5 years to Hazelwood after their education.

·                    To focus believers on using their spiritual gifts, talents and passions so that ministry for them is a joy and the church is best served.

·                    To unite and support strong Christian families that are built on Christ.

·                    To continually structure the leadership and decision making process after biblical ideals for maximum growth and momentum:  by strengthening the eldership; by implementing a plan to develop leaders full of faith and the Holy Spirit; by hiring additional staff; by delegating decisions, authority and finances to the group or persons most capable of using them; by deepening accountability to spiritual matters among leaders; and by dismantling man made barriers that hinder effective ministry.

·                    To earn a reputation as the foremost example in our community of God’s grace and life transformation.
